1920’s Inspired – Glass Cigarette Holder – 6″ Dinner Length – Ladies Pixie –

STOMP the Stinky Fingers!

These are Happy Hollow Glass original “Pixies”. They were born of up-cycled glass points pulled to act as handles while I’m making other pieces. Most artist do in fact throw all those points away but I just can’t do it; not when such lovely little pixies can be made with each.

Description

Did you know….?

These elegant and slender tube cigarette holders were an essential part of ladies fashion throughout much of the early 1900’s.[hr]

You will receive the actual piece shown above.

  • 6″ – dinner length

  • Crystal clear with fine silver fume tip (will change color slightly as it darkens)

  • Straight and easy to clean
  • Vegan friendly products!

Please keep in mind these are slender and elegant glass pieces. They are strong borosilicate but obviously going to be more fragile pieces and should be treated with higher care than would be expected for other heavy walled glass.

They each have “pinch” restrictions to prevent ashes from taking a journey into your mouth. That said – They also work wonderful as tiny tasters/pinch point pipes for smokers blends and store discreetly right alongside all the pens and pencils in the cup holder!

Where there’s smoke there’s fire by Russell Patterson

“The holder was also used as a practical accessory, as before the advent of filtered cigarettes in the 1960s, the holder would encase a filter. Though modern cigarettes are generally manufactured with an existing filter, filtered cigarette holders are still used as a secondary filtration system, and to prevent nicotine staining of the fingers.[1]

A similar holder made of wood, meerschaum or bakelite and with an amber mouthpiece was used for cigars and was a popular accessory for men from the Edwardian period until the 1920s.

FUN FACTS!…

As with evening gloves, ladies’ cigarette holders are measured by four traditional formal standard lengths:

  • opera length, usually 16 to 20 inches/40 to 50 cm
  • theatre length, 10 to 14 inches/25 to 35 cm
  • dinner length, 4 to 6 inches/10 to 15 cm
  • cocktail length, which includes shorter holders[1]

Traditionally, men’s cigarette holders were no more than 4 inches long[2]” (Thank you wiki for this very useful info!)
